Keep your car in shape in Lockdown with our CarDio exercises
Let’s face it, we’ve all made promises to get in shape or be a little healthier as summer approaches but this summer, we might need to give our cars a little extra care as they languish on the driveway or lurk in the garage.
Whilst we’re working from home more and only doing urgent trips it is important to keep your car cared for, wherever you store it.
So here’s some top tips to keep your pride and joy in the best shape possible, yes, it’s time for some CarDio Vehicular exercise.
- Consider where you store it. If you have a garage, use it if you can. It turns out most householders with garages rarely use them for their cars. So clear some space and give it a little extra protection from the elements, just make sure to clean it first.
- This might sound strange but if it is outside on the flat the best thing is to leave the handbrake OFF to prevent wear and tear. You might be able to find wheel chocks online that will help keep it from rolling away. Please DON'T do this if it is parked on a public road though.
- You might think that short journeys will help to keep the battery topped up but it can actually be a real drain. Consider investing in a battery conditioner or trickle charger.
- Guard against corrosion of your brake discs by rolling your car back and forth - IF SAFE TO DO SO. This will prevent a nasty bill from your mechanic later down the line.
Finally, remember that there is light at the end of the tunnel and when things do return to normal, please check that your car is roadworthy before you return to the roads.
Be safe Road Angels.
